DIY Wedding Favors

Wedding favors have been popular for centuries, but only recently it has become increasingly more popular for couples to make their own wedding favors as a way to thank their guests. Making your own favors helps you connect a little better with the people you want to say thank you to and you can customize them any way that you choose. Whether you are having a chic wedding for 500 or a rustic wedding for 100, as long as you have the time, you can make your own wedding favors.

Craft Useful Favors

Nothing is worse than someone getting something they can’t use. Your guests shouldn’t feel guilty about throwing away a favor from your wedding. Instead, make something your guests can use. If you are having a beach wedding, consider providing flip flops. If it is a winter wedding, craft lip balms to keep chapped lips at bay. You could even craft a ‘hangover kit’: a bottle of water or Gatorade, some sweet treats and an eye mask.

Create Succulent Favors

Who doesn’t love sweet things? It is easy to create a candy or cookie buffet with takeaway containers with your names and marriage date on them. Pots of locally sourced honey or jars of jam are popular at rustic weddings. How about tiny pies, coffee beans or candy-filled bags? They will satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.

Earth Conscious Favors

Love the planet and want to give back? Consider making favors out of seed paper; it is a piece of handmade paper that has seeds embedded in it so guests can plant it in their flowerbeds and see what flowers you’ve chosen. You can also give out tiny cacti or other potted plants as favors, as long as your guests do not have to travel too far. Just add a handmade stake with your names and wedding date on it as well as a colorful ribbon and you are done!
